|
From scuba gear to saddles, 2001: A Montana Odyssey, the Story of Film in Livingston is a dazzling trip through Livingston's film history and a look at the contributions that the community, its people and landscape have made to films. The exhibition begins with the early black and white promotional films produced in the area by the Northern Pacific Railway in the 1920s then focuses on the three decades of feature film making in Livingston. "Rancho Deluxe" filmed in 1974, "A River RunsThrough It" filmed in 1991 and "Everything that Rises" filmed in 1997. Also included are original posters, photos and artifacts from other local films and film people. Items on display range from tiny fairie ears from the movie "Legend," written by local screenwriter William Hjortsberg to an antique car used in the movie "A River Runs Through It and memorabilia from the career of underwater filmmaker and "Titanic" producer Al Giddings.
It includes items many might not have a chance to see, such as a Golden Globe for best acting performance in the film "Ulee's Gold," official Academy Award certificates and the original flag from Captain America's jacket worn in "Easy Rider." These articles are on loan from Peter and Becky Fonda. Several original articles from filmmaker Sam Peckinpah, including his director's chair may also be viewed along with articles made for movies by local craftsmen. Plus, much, much more! Don't miss this dynamic and important exhibition, the first of its
kind in If you have questions about this exhibition contact Lynette Dodson
